Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) Player Draft pick order for the 2020 season was announced following the first-round pick order reveal on Sunday.
Reigning champions Quetta Gladiators was awarded the first round pick for the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 Player Draft season five.
Chairman PCB Ehsan Mani, Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan, owners and representatives of the HBL PSL franchises and representatives of the league partners HBL and Blitz Advertising gathered at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday to determine the pick order of the first round of the HBL PSL 2020 Player Draft.
Quetta Gladiators got the first pick, Lahore Qalandars second, Multan Sultans third, two-time former champions Islamabad United fourth, former champions Peshawar Zalmi got the fifth while Karachi Kings had to settle for the sixth and final pick in the order determined using the cricket bat method.
Since, the popularity of Pakistan Super League is growing fast among overseas players, in the fifth edition of the tournament, at least 40 foreign players are all set to play.
While a lot of big names of cricket world are set to be part of Pakistan Super League, there’s a bad news for fans as South African cricketer Ab De Villiers might not be featuring in the 5th edition of tournament.
According to sources, South African Cricketer AB De Villiers won’t be available for PSL 2020 and he has informed his unavailability to the management of Lahore Qalandars for the season 5 of Pakistan Super League.
De Villiers, who retired from international cricket was signed by the Lahore Qalandars last year. The South African also promised to came Lahore for the tournament but due to back injury he withdrawn himself from remainder of PSL.
The 35-year-old brings enormous experience with his impeccable batting credentials, playing 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 295 T20 games in his career.
His most recent stint for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in this year’s Indian Premier League demonstrated his T20 value, scoring 442 runs at a strike rate of 154 including five 50-plus scores.
De Villiers is recently signed by Brisbane Heat for upcoming season of Big Bash League.
The HBL PSL 2020 will be staged in Pakistan with action set to start in February 2020.
