After two back to back successful tournaments of PSL, the third season will be played next year in February. The new elected PCB chairman Najam Sethi announced that eight PSL matches to be played in Pakistan in coming season. He said;
“This time around we are going to hold eight matches in Pakistan. Two double headers will take place in Karachi and two double headers will take place in Lahore.”
After the successful final at Lahore last season, now PCB is taking a big step to bring back international cricket in Pakistan. Peshawar Zalmi last year convinced their team (almost) to come to Lahore. This year more players will come since they know the security arrangements PCB provided last year. He added;
“All players featuring in the third edition of the PSL will be obliged to play in Pakistan. It will be part of their contract that they will be playing here.”
Overseas players will recieve an incentive of 50% more than their usual fee for playing in Karachi and Lahore. If they are icon players then this increment would be 100%. This extra fee would be a great charm and may attract the foreign players. Najam Sethi said; “So if a player was getting let’s say $10,000 for that match, then he will be getting $15,000. It is just a way to sweeten the deal for them.”
He also said that the arrangements for the sixth team are in progress. Around 30 national and international parties had shown interest in buying the franchise.
PSL is evolving and becoming popular among the international fans and they are taking interest in PSL. World eleven will tour to Pakistan this year, this would be a great chance for PCB to make it successful.
