The fifth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 4 will be played at 9-00 pm on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars.
It is expected to be an interesting and tough contest as the teams belong to two biggest and important cities of Pakistan and have always been considered cricketing rivals to each other.
The Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings is the match we have been waiting for since Pakistan Super League kicked off two days ago.
For Lahore, today’s match is all about making a comeback and registering their first win of the tournament, after losing their opening game in dramatic fashion to Islamabad United despite being the dominant side for most of the game.
An excellent start with the bat for the Qalandars fell away towards the end of their inning and though they ended with a total of 171, it was not enough to get them the win.
The spotlight will be on Fakhar Zaman who started the tournament with a cracking 65 off just 43 deliveries. If Zaman continues to play as he did, the Qalandars will be a force to reckon with. A lot more will be expected from South Africa’s AB de Villiers who looked good during his brief stay in the middle.
Furthermore, Mohammad Hafeez who came into bat at number eight against United is due for a big score and considering the fragility of the Lahore middle order, a big knock from him could turn the wheel of fortune for Qalandars.
On the other hand, Kings who won their opening encounter against Multan Sultans on Friday night will be looking to continue their winning momentum.
Liam Livingstone and Babar Azam played brilliantly to put on 157 for the opening stand, leading Kings to put up a formidable total of 183. Apart from them, they boast the likes of Sikandar Raza, Ravi Bopara, and Colin Ingram in the batting order, each of whom has the power to make an impact.
In the bowling department, Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim bowled economically, giving away just 47 runs in 8 overs between the two of them. And with Sohail Khan and Usman Shinwari in the side, the Kings have a lot of good bowling options to explore as well.
The match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings will start at 9pm Pakistan Standard Time.
Date: Saturday, February 16, 2019
Timing: 09:00 PM PKT
Weather: Weather is expected to be clear with a few clouds into the afternoon.
Conditions / Pitch Report: The Dubai surface should suit the spin bowlers but there is enough in the balanced pitch for the batsmen and seamers too. The pitch has been decent enough for batting, especially in the second half of a game. and that can be comprehended from the results of the last few matches. The pitch has turned out to be good for batting, especially under the floodlights.

1. Karachi Kings
They are coming off a win against Multan Sultans in their opening match. They have played only a game and won it. Currently placed at 2nd position in points table.
Karachi Kings went for Liam Livingstone this year. The move worked perfectly as the Englishman scored 82 runs from just 43 deliveries to set the pace for the Kings’ batting lineup to cash in.
Liam Livingstone and Babar Azam would continue to open the batting and need to carry on with their rich vein of form.
Karachi King’s Probable XI:
1. Liam Livingstone, 2. Babar Azam, 3. Ravi Bopara, 4. Sikander Raza, 5. Colin Ingram, 6. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 7. Imad Wasim (capt), 8. Mohammad Amir, 9. Usman Shinwari, 10. Usama Mir, 11. Ali Imran.
2. Lahore Qalandars
They are coming off a loss against Islamabad United in the opening match of season 04. They have played only one game and lost it. Currently placed at bottom of the points table.
Hardus Viljoen may come in place of Carlos Brathwaite. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi would be desperate to make amends after being taken apart by the United batsmen.
Lahore Qalandar’s Probable XI:
1. Fakhar Zaman, 2. Anton Devcich, 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Mohammad Hafeez (c), 5. Agha Salman (wk), 6. Hardus Viljoen, 7. Sohail Akhtar, 8. Hassan Khan, 9. Hardus Viljoen, 10. Shaheen Afridi, 11. Haris Rauf
Players to watch:
1. Ab de Villiers – Batsman, Lahore Qalandars
Ab de Villiers is always a dangerous player when it comes to the shortest format of the game. One of the most powerful hitters of the ball, de Villiers doesn’t need any time to adjust and can switch gears in an instant.
2. Colin Ingram – Batsman, Karachi Kings
What Andre Russel is to Multan Sultans, Colin Ingram is to Karachi Kings. Colin Ingram is a natural when it comes to big knocks and could be a lethal player for the Karachi Kings. A player of his quality is always a danger for opposition bowlers as he often tends to take the game away with his maximums.
3. Babar Azam – Batsman, Karachi Kings
Ranked No 1 in the world ratings for T20 Batsman, the batsman was an integral part of Pakistan’s batting line-up. The right-hander has been making this column frequently in recent times, but it can’t be helped when he’s in that kind of form. Through the Tests, ODIs and T20Is, he has been Pakistan’s most consistent batsman and he will want to close out the series with a fllourish.
4. Mohammad Hafeez – All-rounder, Lahore Qalandars
Lahore Qalandars skipper Mohammad Hafeez is a utility player. While there may be someone who steals the spotlight, Hafeez will be very consistent for Qalandars. Hafeez reads the game very well and tunes his batting accordingly. He has been very good with the ball. His slow bowling and variations often put the batsmen in a heap of trouble.
