The 6th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 will be played between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators will face off in today’s first fixture at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, before Lahore Qalandars take on Peshawar Zalmi later tonight.
Islamabad United, the winners of 2016 and 2018 editions of Pakistan Super League, started off on a winning note by defeating Lahore Qalandars in the opening game, but faced a setback against Multan Sultans on Saturday where their batting failed to fire.
Quetta Gladiators enjoyed a convincing win in their opening match against traditional rivals Peshawar Zalmi in the ‘PSL Clasico’ on Friday, fueled by Umar Akmal’s 75 not out from 50 balls and disciplined bowling by Mohammad Nawaz and rising star Ghulam Mudassar.
Islamabad United were boosted by the return to form of bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who won the Player of the Match award against Qalandars for his two wickets for 24 runs and 23 not out off 11 balls. He went on to score 20 from 14 in the second game, but the 125-7 target was not enough to carry the ‘Sherus’ across the line.
Date: Sunday, February 17, 2019
Timing: 04:30 PM PKT
Weather: Weather is expected to be sunny with a few clouds into the afternoon.
Conditions / Pitch Report:The Dubai surface should suit the spin bowlers but there is enough in the balanced pitch for the batsmen and seamers too. The pitch has been decent enough for batting, especially in the second half of a game. and that can be comprehended from the results of the last few matches.

1. Islamabad United
No changes are expected from Islamabad but Islamabad United management would be worried about their batsmen’s inability to convert promising thirties into daunting scores.
Luke Ronchi scored a brilliant fifty on a tough pitch against Multan and should be backed for another good performance.
So Rizwan Hussain and Luke Ronchi will be opening the innings with Cameron Delport, Hussain Talat and Philip Salt coming in the middle order. Asif Ali, Samit Patel, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan add more depth to their batting.
Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz have ample experience in the international circuit and are must-have players in the side.
Islamabad United’s Probable XI:
1. Luke Ronchi (wk), 2. Sahibzada Farhan, 3. Ian Bell, 4. Cameron Delport, 5. Asif Ali, 6. Hussain Talat, 7. Shadab Khan, 8. Samit Patel, 9. Faheem Ashraf, 10. Mohammad Sami (c), 11. Rumman Raees
2. Quetta Gladiators
Quetta will be captained by Sarfraz Ahmed who will also keep wickets and bat down the order. Watson should open the batting. Not sure how much bowling he will do.
U Akmal, Smith and Shehzad will also contribute with the willow. Fawad Ahmed is going to be the lead spinner along with M Nawaz.
Rilee Rossouw and Umar Akmal were decent in their first match. On the seam front, A Ali and Tanvir are almost certain to lead the attack.
Quetta Gladiator’s Probable XI:
1. Sarfraz Ahmed, 2. Shane Watson, 3. Sunil Narine, 4. Rilee Rossouw, 5. Umar Akmal, 6. Ahmed Shehzad, 7. Anwar Ali, 8. Mohammad Nawaz, 9. Sohail Tanvir, 10. Harry Gurney, 11. Mohammad Asghar
Players to watch:
1. Shane Watson – Batsman, Quetta Gladiators
Shane Watson is always a dangerous player when it comes to the shortest format of the game. One of the most powerful hitters of the ball, Watson doesn’t need any time to adjust and can switch gears in an instant.
2. Luke Ronchi – Batsman, Islamabad United
What Shane Watson is to Quetta Gladiators, Luke Ronchi is to Islamabad United. Ronchi is a natural when it comes to big knocks and could be a lethal player for the Islamabad United. A player of his quality is always a danger for opposition bowlers as he often tends to take the game away with his maximums.
3. Shadab Khan – Bowler, Islamabad United
Ranked No 3 in the world ratings for T20 bowlers, the leg-spinner was an integral part of Islamabad’s title win last year. He still only 20, but has long been a mainstay both at international and franchise level. He is held in such high regard that he has been elevated to the role of Islamabad vice-captain, as understudy to veteran quick bowler Mohammed Sami.
4. Umar Akmal – Batsman, Quetta Gladiators
Umar Akmal is also a dangerous player when it comes to the shortest format of the game. A player of his quality is always a danger for opposition.
