The city of lights is all set to welcome the Pakistan Super League (PSL) action from Saturday. The fans are ready to see their favourite cricketers in action, the historic National Stadium has a fresh new look, the roads are lit up, and the teams are raring to go.
As millions of cricket fans follow the action on their TV screens, thousands more will flock to the National Stadium to cheer on their teams.
Here’s all you need to know:
Got the tickets? Ready to leave for the National Stadium? You will need to reach one of the different parking spots set up by the Karachi administration, from where the shuttle will transport you to designated points near the stadium.
If you hold tickets for any one of these enclosures: Javed Miandad, Fazal Mehmood, Imran Khan, Zaheer Abbas, Majid Khan and Intikhab Alam, you should park at the Gharib Nawaz Football Ground parking lot located on Dalmia Road. From here, the shuttle will drop you to the designated point located in front of Bahria University, and then you will have to walk to the stadium.
If you have tickets for Naseemul Ghani, Iqbal Qasim, Mohammed Brothers, Wasim Bari, Waqar Hasan, Asif Iqbal, Wasim Akram, Quaid Enclosure and Hanif Mohammed enclosures, you should choose one of the parking points on University Road. These include Expo Centre Gate No. 1, Federal Urdu University Ground, Hakim Saeed Playground, and the ground in front of Baitul Mukaram Masjid. From here, the shuttle will take you to a designated point from where you will have to walk to the stadium.
There will be special buses to take the elderly and those with special needs to the stadium.
Make sure you carry:
Your ticket, your original CNIC, and a photocopy of the CNIC of the person whose name is mentioned on the ticket (if somebody else among your family/friends bought the ticket). Mobile phones are allowed.
Any food or drinks, handbags.
Food and refreshments:
Spectators are strictly advised not to bring any kind of refreshments to the stadium. Bottles of any kind will be withheld by security at all entry gates. Eatables, drinks, glass/ plastic bottles/ cans are strictly forbidden to be carried inside the venue.
Each enclosure will have abundant supply of food, refreshments, water and soft drinks which can be purchased on the spot.
Stadium gate timings
Gates for all NSK enclosures will open three hours before the start of the match. This means, gates for matches starting at 7pm will open at 4pm. On 11 March, the only double-header will be played with the first match starting at 2pm. As such, the gates will open from 11am.
There is no ticket sale going on at the stadium or designated parkings therefore, only ticket-holders are advised to come to the stadium.
Karachi Police have issued a traffic plan for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket matches to be played at National Stadium from March 9.
The road from Karsaz via Hasan Square to Agha Khan Hospital gate number-3 will remain closed for commuters.
Roads on back of the National Stadium will be closed for the commuters, however; residents can use these routes by showing their original national identity cards.
Commuters can travel by using the routes of Agha Khan and Liaquat National Hospitals from New Town stop.
Sharah-e-Faisal and Rashid Minhas road will remain open for traffic.
Citizens travelling to Karsaz and Dalmia would have to use alternative routes.
The police diverted heavy traffic from Jail Chorangi and Laiquatabad routes.
Five parking areas established to facilitate visitors
Parking for fans will be available at the following spots:
- Ground next to Hakeem Saeed Park.
- Urdu University Ground
- Itwar Bazar Ground next to Bait-ul-Mukurum Masjid
- Ghareeb Nawaz Football Ground near Millennium Mall
- Expo Center, University Road
Fans can park their cars and head to the stadium through the bus shuttle service that will be run from these parking spots. The fans must show their genuine match ticket and National Identity Card to park their vehicle and aboard the shuttle.
Shuttle service will commence three hours before the start of the match and will run throughout the match/day to accommodate fans coming to and returning from the NSK.
Police also asked spectators to contact their helpline 1915 or Whatsapp number 03059266907 to avoid any inconvenience.
