Journey of Karachi Kings season six of Pakistan Super League.

PSL is a league that holds immense importance for the people belonging to Pakistan. Not only the league itself but the teams also have vast numbers of fan followings. Let’s go through all the significant aspects of Karachi Kings. It is owned by Salman Iqbal. It was coached by the late Dean jones but after this sad demise, this duty has been given to South African Herschelle Gibbs. The captain of this team is Imad Wasim. This team represents the province Sindh and is eminent for the phrase “yeh hai Karachi” and making energetic anthems. Fahad Mustafa, Iqrar ul Hassan and Waseem Badami are the notable names in the list of its ambassadors and the home ground for them is National Stadium. They were triumphant in 2020 PSL’s season. It’s time to rewind to 2016 and relive their performances in all seasons.

Season 1

The kings kicked off their campaign with an easy win against Lahore but couldn’t perform that well in the rest of the session. They finished fourth on the table with 6 losses and two wins thus booked a place in the playoffs. Karachi was kicked out of the tournament at the hands of Islamabad united.

Season 2

Karachi lost consecutive matches against Peshawar, Quetta, and Lahore. They however defeated the defending champions-Islamabad by the D/L method. They continued this form and also overpowered the Zalmis. This charm started to come to an end as they were beaten by gladiators. The next game was a do or die for both Lahore and Karachi and thanks to Kieron pollard Karachi was able to get over the line. In the next contest, they had to maintain their run rate against Islamabad to qualify for emulator and they did that. Once again they faced united and they again overpowered them and kicked them out of the tournament. They did qualify for the next playoff but weren’t able to reach the final.

Season 3

Kings got off to a great start by winning three consecutive matches against gladiators, Zalmi, and qalandars respectively. The teams match against Multan got abandoned due to persistent rain, next up they were defeated by united. Later, Zalmi kicked them out of the tournament in the second eliminator.

Season 4

Karachi has always managed to get in the playoffs of PSL by finishing fourth on the points table. However, they were eliminated from the tournament later and failed to reach the final.

Season 5

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this was the best season for Karachi yet. They for the very first time tasted the glory of not only being in the final but also betting over the line and getting their hands on the beautiful trophy. They defeated their arch-rivals Lahore by five wickets in the final.
