Three PSL franchises to have new faces as head coach this season

The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) Draft will take place on December 6. The tournament will be staged in Pakistan with action set to start in February 2020.

Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) Player Draft pick order for the 2020 season was announced following the first-round pick order reveal on Sunday.

Reigning champions Quetta Gladiators was awarded the first round pick for the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 Player Draft season five.

More than hundred foreign cricketers are interested in participating in the fifth edition of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

According to details, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started the registration process of overseas players who are interested in playing the next season of the league. Despite the international fixtures clashing with the expected league schedule, February and March 2019, the PCB is hopeful that top international stars will confirm their availability for HBL PSL5.

Apart from players, there’s going to be many reshuffling in the coaching panel of Pakistan Super League teams.

At least three Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are expected to have new head coaches ahead of the next season, set to be held exclusively in Pakistan.

While Islamabad United already announced to release Dean Jones, it is expected that two other franchises — Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans — would also have new faces in their coaching staff.

Islamabad United have made Misbah-ul-Haq their new head coach after sacking the long-serving Dean Jones, reported ESPNcricinfo.

Although not official yet, Misbah replacing Jones had been on the cards for some time, and was one of Pakistan cricket’s worst kept secrets, especially after Jones was let go a day earlier despite leading the side to two PSL championships — more than everyone else.

Meanwhile, Karachi Kings are also unlikely to retain Mickey Arthur as their head coach. Arthur — who was earlier removed as Pakistan’s head coach by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) — was likely to be replaced by Jones.

Another PSL franchise, Multan Sultans, are in talks with former Kiwi cricketer and former England coach Andy Flower. They were previously coached by Johan Botha in the 2019 season and Tom Moody in the 2018.

The players’ draft of the PSL 5 would be held in the first week of December in Lahore.
