Punjab vs Sindh clash was due on 27th April 2017 which was a deciding game for Sindh, if Sindh had won they would qualify directly for the finals leaving Federal to be knocked out.
Umar Akmal (captain of Punjab) came for the toss and complained that Junaid Khan is not available for the game. Hence, he didn’t report to the ground and the management told the skipper that Junaid is absent.
“I’m shocked that Junaid Khan didn’t attend the ground today even when he knew that the match is due today” Said Umar Akmal at the toss.
Junaid Khan didn’t take long to hesitate about Umar Akmal’s saying and lashed out on his skipper’s sayings.
“I’m very disappointed with the way Umar Akmal talked on TV that I left the team and ran away, I have not left the team, I have been suffering with food poisoning and high fever. Dr Asad (team doctor) came to me in the morning and suggested me not to play the match” Expressed Junaid Khan.
“Even I felt a shock for whatever Umar Akmal said during the toss even after knowing that I won’t be available for the game”
Both Umar Akmal and Junaid Khan have been selected for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2017 squad and such rifts and harsh sayings between both may not be a good sign for Pakistan.
