POLL#1 – POST DRAFT
November 12, 2017
Sample Size: 578
Being the biggest city of Pakistan with over 15 million population it was not surprising at all to see Karachi Kings at the top of the table and with Shahid Afridi the biggest name in Pakistan cricket made it look more obvious. Second position was secured by Lahore Qalandars who had a poor outing in both season 1 and 2 of PSL, still the fans were supporting their city which is home to over 11 million people. Islamabad United on the third spot is something unexpected since they are lesser populated than Peshawar and Multan, still it managed to get the support of 14% of the total sample. One of the reason can be fan following of their captain Misbah ul Haq; moreover, the support from twin city Rawalpindi which is a home to 2.1 million Pakistanis and the combined population of Rawalpindi and Islamabad exceeds over 3.1 million people. After that the defending champions: Peshawar Zalmi, despite being the winners of the last season failed to attract fans more than 7%, the major reason behind is the exclusion of Shahid Afridi from the squad, still the city with 1.97 million people secured fourth position. Then comes the debutant team Multan Sultans, multan is known as the city of saints with a population of 1.87 million Pakistanis. The new team captained by Shoaib Malik who is the most successful T20 captain of all time over the globe managed to attract just 5% of the sample. Finally, the most consistent team of the Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators as usual secures the last position with just 4% votes in the race of popularity. Quetta is home to 1 million people but they are representing the biggest province of Pakistan Balochistan.

Following by Peshawar Zalmi who doubled their fans and moved to to 14% from 7% which might be because of the incredible performance by Peshawar Zalmi along with the passion of their skipper Darren Sammy who is loved by almost every fan. Next comes Islamabad United who finished 4th position in the table, also gained 2% fans and moved to 16% of the total fans, they had a poor start but showcased some brilliant performances in the later matches. Lahore Qalandars, the team which failed to get off the mark and lost 39% from their fans and their share in total fans dropped from 28% to 17%. Finally Karachi Kings the hot favourite of PSL 2018, are still leading but some of their fans who voted for them in first place have shifted to other teams, Karachi Kings dropped down to 35% from 42%.
