The Pakistan Super League is just 2 years old and has already given some amazingly talented cricketers that have earned their way into international cricket by performing consistently well in domestic aswell as in PSL.
Some fresh faces that have been brought in the limelight courtesy PSL:
Hassan Ali – the young energetic fast bowler who represents Peshawar Zalmi in the League has now become the key bowler for Pakistan after showing some brilliant performance in PSL and the Champions Trophy 2017 leading Pakistan to becoming the Champions. Not much was expected by Him as he had a poor first season of PSL but his Passion and Dedication made him one of the finest bowlers of the current Pakistani Team with that said, Hassan Ali is definitely one to look out for in the future.
Rumman Raees – Another quick bowler who has been really impressive in both seasons of the PSL which earned him a place in the T20 Squad vs West Indies earlier this year though he only got to play one match in the series but still gave his level best in that one particular game. Then came the Champions Trophy in which Rumman unfortunately did not get a chance to represent Pakistan but then an Injury to Wahab Riaz led to immediate replacement for the remaining fixtures and Rumman got the opportunity to fly to England and be a part of the squad. He was a part of the playing 11 in the big Semi Final vs England replacing Pakistan’s frontline Bowler Mohammad Amir so a lot of people were expecting a good performance from Rumman and he did not disappoint anyone picking up 2 wickets for 46 against a destructive batting side.
Shadab Khan – the Young Gun that fired ever since He burst into the scene. getting a chance to play a big league like PSL for Islamabad United along with some popular names that too at a very young age is a big opportunity and at the same time a pressure situation as consistent performance is essential to get more chances in the future. The Emerging Lad did just that He used this platform and delivered emphatic performances and then earned the national cap of all three formats of the game. We can confidently say that this is a fine start to a promising international Career as he has shown in talent wearing the National jersey aswell.
Fakhar Zaman – ever since Sharjeel got banned from International Cricket, Pakistan has struggled to find a good consistent opener as of late who can provide a good start to the innings and be effective since the start, the PSL has to be mentioned here as it has again given another gem of a player in Fakhar Zaman, Representing Lahore Qalandars in the second edition Fakhar got a chance to play with a senior player aswell as a mentor in Brendon McCullum which has helped him bat fearlessly so far in his career. It is safe to say along with Hassan’s brilliance with the ball, Fakhar’s heroics with the bat was also a crucial part behind the success of Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. Fakhar Zaman has worked very hard to reach where he is at the moment and no doubt this dangerous opener will continue to deliver explosive knocks in the future aswell.
All these Players had contributed in the Champions Trophy 2017 which led Pakistan to lifting the Trophy and this is a very good sign for the Nation as young players are stepping up and delivering good performances in big tournaments, Thanks to the Pakistan Super League for bringing out the hidden talent of Pakistan and the League will also be expanding as it progresses so it will give more emerging players an opportunity to play with senior players in the tournament and then be further groomed so that they can go on to represent Pakistan in the future and win some Big ICC Tournaments.
