The Champions Trophy 2017 is almost near its closing stage as only two group matches are remaining and then the fans will get to witness the semi finals in which two teams have already sealed their spot, England and Bangladesh and the remaining two teams will be decided in the two big clashes, India vs South Africa followed by Pakistan vs Sri Lanka.
It is safe to say that this year the tournament has been quite interesting, All the fans got to witness some surprises and some shocking turn of events, Top Teams like Australia and New Zealand could not live up to the expectations and failed to impress many people in the tournament, whereas underdogs like Bangladesh who have booked their place in the Semi’s and Sri Lanka who still have a chance of qualifying.
Other Teams like Pakistan, South Africa and India have performed fairly well so far in the tournament and they all have to cross one last hurdle which will be quite challenging in order to make it to the semi finals. Although, there is one team that has been very dominant and has not given other teams a chance to topple them, the hosts England who have had a successful run in the tournament without any losses also are the first team to qualify for the Semi Finals and are surely one of the favorites to lift the Champions Trophy.
We have also seen some blistering performance from big players like Joe Root, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and other unexpected players who have impressed the fans in this major tournament. Not to forget it is because of these talented cricketers their team is able to see some positive results throughout the Champions Trophy.
However, there’s one thing that has been disturbing this tournament ever since the start and that is the unpleasant weather of the United Kingdom. It has helped some teams gain points but at the same time ruined other team’s chances in the tournament like Australia, unfortunately all their matches were affected by rain and 2 important matches could not conclude with a result.
Let’s hope the rain stays away from the remaining fixtures aswell as the semi finals so that it doesn’t affect a team negatively or positively and all the cricket fans get to see some competitive cricket in all the matches between some top teams who have fought hard to reach thus far in the tournament
